Biography

Sean Greenwood is President & CEO of Canadian UAVs (CUAVs), Canada’s largest commercial and military uncrewed aircraft systems operator, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Under his leadership, CUAVs flew Canada’s first BVLOS flights outside a test range in Transport Canada’s 2018 trials and has since surpassed 12,000 commercial BVLOS flights. In 2026, CUAVs was awarded Transport Canada’s first Pre-Validated Declaration under CAR 922 for its Sparrowhawk detect-and-avoid radar — the only certified DAA system in Canada.

CUAVs serves defence and energy clients across the country, holding DND/CAF test and operating authorities, Secret-level security clearance, and Controlled Goods Program registration. The company was a Tier 1 partner on the 2018 Royal Canadian Navy ISTAR program, is flying a contractor-owned, contractor-operated ISR mission to the Arctic in 2026, and has supported Shell’s aviation group on BVLOS pipeline inspection since 2018. Greenwood is a co-founder of the Canadian Alliance for National Uncrewed Capability (CANUC), a 14-company alliance advocating for ownership-based Canadian content rules in uncrewed systems procurement.
