Biography

Curtis is in his 21st year of service with the Edmonton Police Service and is currently the Unit Supervisor for the Flight Operations Unit which oversees the rotary, fixed wing, and RPAS program for the EPS. Throughout his career Curtis has worked in Patrol (General Duties), a Divisional Special Projects Team, the ALERT/CFSEU North Organized Crime Team, was a full time rotary Tactical Flight Officer, worked as an investigator in the EPS Professional Standards Branch, and was the Sergeant of the EPS Legal Application Support Team and Electronic Surveillance Unit for 6 years before returning to Flight Operations in early 2024 as the Unit Supervisor.

During his time in LAST and ESU, he was the gatekeeper for EPS’s wiretap applications and any electronic surveillance techniques such as hallway cameras, pole cameras, and tracking devices. Since leaving this specific area for Flight Operations he has retained the aerial surveillance technique portfolio for EPS, is continually maintaining EPS’s REOP assessment guide for evidentiary aerial search considerations and assists with drafting judicial authorizations for aerial searches when required.
