Varunkumar Mehta

Biography

Dr. Varunkumar Mehta is a Research Officer with the Counter-UAS Team at the Aerospace Research Centre, National Research Council Canada (NRC). His research focuses on counter-unmanned aircraft systems, machine learning, reinforcement learning, signal processing, and sensor fusion. He has contributed to several projects enhancing UAV safety and security. Dr. Mehta earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay, an M.Tech. from IIT Guwahati, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Ottawa (2019–2020). His research contributions in aerial robotics and cyber-physical systems have been widely cited, with more than 500 citations to date.
